Amateur or Master?

Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul
can be a true master. For this reason, mastery demands all of a person.

How often do you think your results are not coming quickly enough?

How often are you hoping, praying, and maybe fretting that it happens sooner?

If you’re like most, then this happens frequently. We all fall prey to this at one time or another.

But the fact is that all great things take time. If it comes too easy and fast, then it’s sure to not be great.

Quick success is a curse.
It takes time to create a foundation
upon which lasting results can be built.

Fast fame and instant success are a curse. Yes, you read that right.

Fast success doesn’t allow us the time to mature and grow and improve.

The fast success retards our growth because we often start to believe our own press and think we’re infallible.

Fast success often makes us complacent and lazy. Seducing us into thinking we have it “all figured out.”

One of my mentors once told me, “If you go out too soon,
you may never finish your work.”  We live in a world where very few are
taking the time and diving deep enough to develop their mastery.
Fast fame is a mind and abilities numbing drug.

While the amateur thinks in terms of day and years, the master thinks in terms of decades.

I was being interviewed on a radio program this last week and the hostess asked, “Do you think we can use our consciousness to shorten this COVID lockdown?”

I replied, “With all due respect, that’s the wrong objective. The objective should be to make the most of the time life has afforded us, so we become bigger, better, stronger, wiser and more awake.”

The amateur thinks in terms of days and years.
The master thinks in terms of decades.
