Redemptive Leadership®

Redemption: to gain or regain something by paying the price.
Redemptive: acting to save someone from error or evil.
Redemptive Leaders® seek their own Redemption first;
and then they’re Redemptive for others.

I’ve worked for years to first lead my own life, and to seek my own Redemption for the sins and errors I’ve made.

None of us are free of this. The only difference between any of us is by degree at best.

We all need Redemption. We all need to redeem our honor. We need to redeem the sins and errors of our own thinking and actions.

You see, as a leader, I come from the perspective that all of us do the best we can with the resources, we have available to us.

If we had more resources we may do and be different, but we do the best we can with what we currently have.

How many times have you done something that hurt another?

How many times have you in retrospect made a stupid, imprudent decision?

How many times have you wished for a do-over?

If you’re like me, these times are countless.

You cannot give what you don’t have.

You must be and have something before you can give it to another.

Yet the fact, is that as leaders we must make decisions. Even with limited information that may cause error. In fact, the most important thing we do as leaders is make decisions.

Leaders make decisions.
They know their information is limited, yet regardlessthey must decide;
and then they often pray there’s a forgiving God.

Only when you seek and find your own redemption can you be the Redemptive Leader necessary to save others from error and evil.

To achieve this, you must pay the price; and continue to pay.
A huge part of your own redemption is founded in forgiveness. True forgiving
happens at 3 levels:

1. Forgiving yourself
2. Forgiving others
3. Forgiving the entire situation.

And they must happen in this order.

True forgiving is the ability to genuinely state,
“Thank you for giving me that experience.”
All true forgiveness ends in gratitude.

Until you are genuinely grateful, you have not yet fully forgiven.

And until you forgive you will not be redeemed.

Redemption and Redemptive Leadership is work. More internal than external.

You can take action outside to correct error, but until you’ve completely let it go, and fully embraced the lessons of your actions, you’re not redeemed.

No one can do this for you.

No ritual or ceremony can bring this to you.

There’s no external savior.

There’s nothing outside that can give it to you. No matter what anyone states; and no matter how much you would like it to be true.

It’s in the inner sanctum that your redemption is earned.

I’m grateful for the errors I’ve made from my own lack of awareness. I’m
grateful for the lessons that have come from my pain. For through these difficult
times, I have become a better and more awake and aware human being;

and without these things, I’d still be in the dark.

At the end of the day, the redemption we all seek is built upon love.

Personally, I never experienced authentic love until the pain peeled away the illusion; and it all came crashing down.

When we know love, we are immediately redeemed.

True love.

Not romanticized infatuation that often professes to be love.

For while we rarely talk about love in a leadership or business that’s where true redemption both begins and ends; and it’s extremely practical.

Love is redemptive. This is why Jesus says love.
There’s something about love that builds up and is creative.
There’s something about hate that tears down and is destructive.

So love your enemies.
